ONE-ON-ONE KIDNEY TRANSPLANT EDUCATION

The MNITF developed a unique education program for dialysis patients around the treatment option of transplantation, utilizing personalized, one-on-one instruction by specially trained transplant recipients known as Peer Educators.

This education program has been provided at dialysis centers and seeks to help patients who are undergoing dialysis gain the knowledge and understanding that is needed to make an informed decision about transplantation, including the lifelong responsibility of post-transplant care. The program also seeks to help patients learn how to take an active role in their healthcare, which is crucial in maintaining a transplanted organ.
