RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM
When To Apply
MNITF funds research in two cycles each year:
- June 15 (LOI deadline): The applicants invited to complete the full application must submit the application by July 31.
- November 1 (LOI deadline): The applicants invited to complete the full application must submit by December 15.
Approximately three to six grants are awarded each year, depending on grant amounts and the annual budget. Grant requests are not to exceed $150,000 and may be two-year projects.
How To Apply
Step 1
The Letter of Inquiry (LOI) must be submitted online by June 15 or November 1.
To begin this process and submit an LOI, click on the LOI Form link below to access Foundant Grant Management.
LOIs that meet the eligibility criteria will be reviewed and given serious consideration by the MNITF Research Advisory Board (RAB). The RAB will score the proposals based on merit, innovation, and the strongest potential to positively impact the advancement of organ transplantation. The RAB will select the top-ranked applicants who will be invited to submit a grant proposal (Step 2).
LOI INSTRUCTIONS & QUESTIONS (PDF)
If you have any questions, please contact Nicole Mendez, Executive Director, at [email protected] or (424) 358-4450.
Step 2
If you are selected to submit a formal application, you will receive an email inviting you to submit a full grant proposal online.
An invitation to submit a full grant proposal indicates that the RAB will review your detailed request for funding, but it is not a guarantee of an award.
Application deadlines are July 31 and December 15, if invited.
Step 3
Applicants whose applications score the highest and meet the criteria may be invited to give a presentation either in person or virtually. This gives the RAB the opportunity to ask questions about the project, gain a better understanding of it, and address any questions or concerns.
Applicants will be given notice approximately 45–60 days after the grant application deadline, depending on the date of the MNITF Board of Directors meeting. Typically, for the June cycle, notification of awards is given in late September/early October; and for the November cycle, notification is given in late February/mid-March.
