Kidney-Friendly Honey Butter Chicken Wings

This recipe is adapted to be more suitable for those with kidney concerns by reducing sodium and using kidney-friendly ingredients.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound fresh chicken wings, cut into pieces (about 10-12 wings)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for greasing the baking sheet)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Lightly grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  3. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, honey, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and dried thyme.
  4. Place the chicken wings on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  5. Brush half of the honey-butter mixture over the wings.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, then flip the wings and brush with the remaining honey-butter mixture.
  7. Continue baking for another 15-20 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  8. Let the wings rest for 5 minutes before serving.
